Edgar Allan Poe is one of America's most famous and most misunderstood men of letters. As this book was much more than writer of horror. He earned his living as she was, with his pen, doing all kinds of writing. He wrote the satire, comedy, poetry, tales of adventure and gothic. There was also a sponsor of the kind of mystery, in addition to being an inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle. Poe was also known as literary criticism, while others may have agreed with him, but could not exclude its arguments. He did not write easy to read tabloid fiction, their stories requires a little effort by the reader.
The stories might be expected in any what collection of Poe's here, like "The Purloined Letter," "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Masque of the Red Death". Includes one of his many satires, it looks just like a newspaper article that describes successful trip cross the Atlantic by balloon. In the 1840s, the public was abuzz with talk of ballooning in large part through the Atlantic shorter trip. Poe simply took this national obsession and ran with it.
Illustrated by Harry Clarke reading this book is much more resource. It's good for students and researchers in search of work lesser known Poe. It's good for those who love the writing of the 19th century. Both for those who enjoy a variety of writing very good. It gets two thumbs up.
